From El Altet Decide we hear with concern that the current municipal corporation is going to face the payment of compensation to the company Aparcisa as long as the reform work of the Central Market is not executed and at the same time change the PGOU in order to accommodate in the regulations the provisional location of the market in a green enclave as it currently is on the slope of the Vinalopó river.

Two wrong decisions on the same issue, and two decisions that worry us, because from the districts we see year after year, how expensive it is to see some type of investment in our territories. And here, at a stroke, millions are going to be thrown away. At the same time we see how the PGOU can be modified in order to make a fit of their option, when at other times they have been unable to do so to solve any type of problem that has arisen in the districts.

For all these reasons, we oppose this waste of public money, which is always necessary, and in the current situation, even more so.

Instead, we propose to locate the new market in the Candalix site; a solution, which, broadly speaking, would solve both problems. Aparcisa would continue with its project, Elche would have a new Central Market, the assets would be saved, adapting the new building to the Palmeral, and placing it in an area close to the center and well connected.

At the same time, the old building can be restored to house a large leisure and restaurant space, as a complement to the pedestrianization of the center, being a pole of attraction for both residents and tourists, in the style of other large cities. It would not be necessary to modify the PGOU, returning the slope of the river to its original state and thus not losing a single meter of green areas.

So, NO TO PAY INDEMIZATIONS, AND YES TO INVEST IN PROGRESS AND FUTURE, for Elche and for the districts. Remember that we are in the legislature of the districts and they do nothing but look at their navel.
